Cocoa-Rockledge Garden Club is affiliated with The Florida
Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc., that has 19,000 members. Members
of The National Council of Garden Clubs, Inc., this organization
has members totaling over 265,000. Member of the Deep South
Region.
OUR PURPOSES ARE
Advancing & stimulating the love and knowledge of gardening.
Promoting and encouraging civic roadside planting &
beautification. Supporting world-wide ecological efforts.
COCOA-ROCKLEDGE GARDEN CLUB SPONSORS
The Early Bloomers (Junior Gardeners)
Junior Clubs include children between the ages of three to
twelve or pre-school to fifth grade.
The Lady Bugs (Intermediate Gardeners)
Intermediate Clubs include children between in grades six
through ninth grade.
Wekiva Youth Camp for girls & boys who have completed school
grades 3 through 8, are helded mid-June through July. Wekiva Youth
Camp is located in Wekiwa Springs State Park near Orlando. Nature
& environmental experiences high-light the camp activities, qhich
include swimming, crafts, sports & evening programs. A special
primitive (in tents) campting program is offered for the 7th grade
campers and an EE (environmental education) program is attended by
the campers selected for this special 8th grade experience. This
group also enjoys leaning how to canoe. Each week 104 campers are
housed in thirteen cabins where eight campers reside with two
counselors. Adult volunteers (usually garden club members) direct
the environmental education, nature and craft programs and also
run the office, clinic and canteen. The staff includes a Director,
Assistant Director, Food Service, Waterfront Instructor, Security,
Junior and Senior Counselors and Counselors-in-Training.
S.E.E.K. “Save the Earth’s Environment through
Knowledge”, is an Environmental Conference for high school
students who are going into the 10th, 11th or 12th grades. The
students are sponsored by their local garden clubs. The conference
provides and opportunity for participants to attend lectures and
"hands-on" workshops at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
